Acupuncture uses very fine disposable steel needles to manipulate energy in the body to promote health. The body’s energy or qi (“chee“) flows in channels or meridians. We use needles and massage at hundreds of points on the body to access the qi and encourage optimal energy flow. Treatment can be directed at internal organs, joints, and brain function.
Chinese herbal medicine is different than western drugs because it is natural, gentle and administered in formulas. The herbalist can adjust the formulas to create a balanced treatment that provides the benefit without harsh side effects. Chinese tonic herbs are prescribed to promote optimal health.
Medical Qigong (Chinese Yoga) uses specific exercises to balance the body, treat disease and promote health. Medical Qigong uses breath and movement to regulate qi in the body. These exercises are tailored to each patient and can be performed in a few minutes each day.
Nutrition and lifestyle counseling may be the most beneficial and long lasting of all TCM healing modalities. Taoist philosophy promotes health and prosperity through healthy eating, gentle exercise and living in balance with nature.
Tui Na (Chinese healing massage) rounds out an acupuncture treatment. Tui Na is used to loosen tight knotted muscles and promote relaxation in limbs and joints.
I started as an agnostic about Acupuncture and still am somewhat, however, I noticed early, the positive effects of her treatments on my energy and emotional attitude. I have come to believe in it and will continue to visit Katherine on a regular basis. Since I have been associated with Katherine I have achieved an enhanced immune response to chronic cold and flu, and a stronger defense against aches and pains and an improved psychological balance.

I get acute allergies to pollens, with sinus head aches and congestion. The acupuncture treatments for my sinuses did wonders, promptly opening up my sinus passages, and relieving the pressure in my head and letting me breathing normally again.

I have been a client of Katherine Sohigian's since I was released from hospital and rehab facilities in February, 2008, after six months. I was near death, but luckily survived. However I had to learn to walk again. Weekly acupuncture treatments with Katherine have been an integral part of my recovery, along with consistent physical therapy. She has also given me herbs that allow me to sleep, and others that strengthen my immune system. I know that I would be nowhere near as recovered as I am without her skillful ministrations each week. I had never before had acupuncture and was a bit apprehensive, but Katherine's manner and her wonderful technique put me at ease right from the first.

I have had consistently immediate and positive responses to Katherine's treatments. She has treated me for a variety of medical issues, some chronic and some short-term, and each time my symptoms have lessened, then disappeared. I can't recommend her highly enough!
